How to Pick the Best Cable TV Service and Package

Cable TV operators have upped their game in the past couple of years. Streaming services like Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu have given them a run for their money. Most cable operators are trying hard to retain their customers and get new ones like Cox customer support. So, now is probably the best time to shift to cable TV. You can get better deals on Cox cable packages or from your local provider than before.

Moreover, many people still prefer the reliability and accessibility of cable TV. You can get all your favorite channels and shows on TV with a good cable network. Moreover, most cable operators also have internet services, and you can get a bundle deal for both. So, if you are all for affordability, cable TV might be a better option for you. Here are some things to consider before getting a cable TV package:

#1: Consider Customer Service

Better customer service might be the biggest difference between a good or bad cable TV operator. You might be getting the same channels on both. Moreover, they might even have similar pricing. But if the customer service is awful, it is all going to go south. Your relationship with your cable operator does not end when you get the service. It is only the beginning of it.

So, sooner or later, you will need to talk to a customer service rep. It’s a red flag if the response times are long or the customer care department is simply non-existent. So, before you sign a contract, make sure that their service is good. You can talk to a neighbor who uses the service or read some online reviews. Then, after you get an honest picture of the company, you can make a decision.

#2: Compare Available Packages

Doing their homework never hurt anybody. So, it is always a good idea to do your research. Some people can be quick to make a decision and choose the first thing they see. This can be a mistake. So, you should always consider all your options. Talk to different companies and make a list of their pros and cons. Moreover, also gauge which ones are more open to giving you a better deal. As a result, you can make an informed decision.

#3: Look Out for Bundle Offers

Most cable operators also offer phone and internet services. And most households subscribe to all three. So, it can be a good idea to get a bundle offer. It can be a win-win situation for both parties. Cable operators can knock off tens of dollars off your bill if you subscribe to multiple services. As a result, you don’t have the hassle of searching for individual options. And you could also get a much more affordable deal!

#4: Ask for Deals

Most cable companies might not tell you of the currently available deals. For example, there might be a deal for new customers, and you don’t know about it. So, it is always great if you ask for deals. Moreover, some cable companies can offer you a custom deal based on your package. Many companies can roll out the red carpet for long-term or new customers. So, you should take advantage of that and try to get a special promo.

#5: Negotiate a Package

A lot of the time, you can get a better deal if you ask for it. So, instead of agreeing to whatever your cable operator has on offer, you should negotiate with them. So, if haggling isn’t your first instinct, it is time to change that. Most companies would listen to you because they don’t want to lose a customer. It is especially true if you are a multiple-service subscriber. One of the most effective ways to negotiate is to know what the competitors are offering. For this, it is important to refer back to point #2 and do your research!

#6: List Down Must-Have Channels

Many times, the ready-made cable TV bundles might miss out on some must-have channels. As individual choices can differ, you might want to watch other channels. It all depends upon your personal preferences. So, you must make a list of must-have channels for you and your family.

Then, pick a package that covers most of these channels. Otherwise, you might have to add those channels separately, and the costs can pile up. So, instead of paying for the channels, you aren’t going to watch, get your favorite ones instead. If you only want one or two additional channels along with your package, you might even be able to get them free of charge. It is another reason to practice your haggling skills.
