The Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) is a register formed in accordance with the Education Services for Overseas Students. The register consists of various courses offered by particular institutions that have been granted permission by the state to educate overseas students. To become a CRICOS registered provider, you must undergo the CRICOS Registration.

1. External and internal environment monitoring of the risks that the RTO can face.
2. Feedback by the former and current students of the RTO.
3. Reviews by the government and industries.

What happens during a CRICOS compliance audit?
ASQA adopts a student-centred approach to determine if you are following standard guidelines or not. Compliance audits for every provider are not conducted in the same way. The process is customised based on the provider’s risk rating.
Before your audit is conducted, ASQA will inform you about the nature of your audit so that you can prepare accordingly. During your CRICOS audit, you will be required to show evidence that you are following all rules and regulations.
For that, you will be expected to present:
1. Policies and procedures manual.
2. Training and assessment strategies.
3. Training and assessment tools.
4. Trainers’ professional development and qualification certificates.
5. Student attendance records.
ASQA might also speak to your trainers or students to cross-check and gain a holistic understanding of your operations. If you cannot provide any of the pieces of evidence asked by the ASQA, it will be considered a non-compliance against your RTO. If any non-compliance is found in your audit, the auditors will inform you about it at the end of the audit, and will also include it in your audit report. You will have the chance to show evidence of rectifying your non-compliance to ASQA within the next twenty days.
It is important to note that this chance will only be provided to you once. If another grave non-compliance is found, your registration will simply be cancelled.
