There are two different types of auditors: internal and external. The difference between these two is that the internal auditor does the audits from within the company, while the external auditor does the audits independent of the company who is being audited. Similar to the CPAs, these types of auditors can work in almost any industry, and there is also a high demand for them in the workforce.

Tax Examiner

A tax examiner is also as it sounds to be. An accountant who chooses to go down this path, will be examining federal, state, and local tax returns that are filed by small businesses. It is their responsibility to make sure that everything is reported and accounted for correctly. They also list and resolve any errors that may have occurred on the statements. The tax examiners work for the government in making sure that everyone paid the correct amount of taxes, and that there was no instance of over or under paying.
